Zoetis, AABP Offer Veterinary Student Scholarships

Applications for scholarships to help offset tuition costs are due by June 15

Applications are now being accepted for 2014 scholarship awards for students pursuing a veterinary degree, Zoetis and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners announced last week.

The scholarships are funded through a unique partnership with veterinarians, animal health suppliers and dealers through the Zoetis Industry Support Program.

To be considered for a 2014 vet student scholarship, applicants must be students graduating with their veterinary degree in 2015 and enrolled in colleges of veterinary medicine in the United States.

Zoetis partnership will offer scholarship opportunities for veterinary students.

Eligible veterinary students can visit Zoetis' online veterinary scholarship resource for additional details and to access the online application form. Applications must be submitted via the AABP website by June 15, 2014. Membership in college chapters of AABP or food animal club is strongly encouraged.

Since 2009, the AABP Foundation – Zoetis Veterinary Student Scholarship Fund has awarded a total of $460,000 to deserving bovine veterinary students. In 2013, 15 students each received $5,000 scholarships through the fund.

The scholarship program is administered by the AABP Foundation with the assistance of the Amstutz Scholarship Committee.

The 2014 scholarship recipients will be notified prior to the 2014 AABP Annual Conference, which is Sept. 18-20, 2014, in Albuquerque, N.M.

To receive recognition, scholarship recipients will be encouraged to attend the AABP Annual Conference, with expenses paid, but attendance is not required to receive the veterinary student scholarship.

In addition to supporting veterinary student scholarships through the AABP Foundation, this program also provides funding for veterinary student scholarships through the American Association of Equine Practitioners Foundation and funds to local FFA chapters.

Participating partners can direct funds to the organization of their choice — FFA, AABP or AAEP — or percentages to each.
