It's easier than ever and more important than ever for beef producers to connect with consumers using the Internet.
Billy Frey, North American public relations manager for Alltech, gave a presentation on the topic at the company's Global 500 Beef meeting in Kentucky.
Registering on Facebook potentially puts you in contact with 500 million people and takes only a few minutes, Frey says. Twitter gives you an idea what's "trending" and is also very easy to register on.
These sites can be good business contacts, also, and most older beef producers have children and/or grandchildren who use these sites.
Videos such as the South Dakota rancher's "Yellow Tail in now Yellow Fail" take just a few minutes to record and post and put your face and opinions in front of people who otherwise could never contact you.
