You Can Be Part of Unique Program to Benefit Iowa FFA

Farmers in Iowa have opportunity to participate in a program which allows them to buy Stine brand seed corn from Iowa FFA, raising funds needed by the Iowa FFA Enrichment Center.

Farmers throughout the state have a terrific opportunity to participate in the Stine Seed Program, which will allow farmers to purchase Stine brand seed corn from the Iowa FFA.

Harry Stine, founder and owner of Stine Seed Company at Adel, has been instrumental in making the FFA Enrichment Center a reality. The center opened earlier this year and is based at Ankeny, just north of Des Moines. Stine is continuing to show his commitment to the future of agriculture by allowing the Iowa FFA to run this program; designed to raise critical funds needed for the operation of the FFA Enrichment Center.

The seed corn will be fully serviced and supported through the regular Stine sales and agronomic network. Every Stine brand corn hybrid is available through the FFA, including SmartStax hybrids, VT Triple PRO hybrids, VT Triple hybrids, Herculex I hybrids, and Roundup Ready Corn 2 hybrids. In order to help with speedy and accurate delivery, the local Stine dealer will receive a small administrative fee for handling and warehousing the seed.

Entire amount of your seed purchase check is written to Iowa FFA

Dan Hansen, program coordinator, notes that "the hybrids are exactly the same. The only difference is where the money is sent!  It is amazing that the entire amount of the check is written to the Iowa FFA. That is why, we are asking farmers to consider planting a portion of their acres to Stine brand seed corn in order to help the Iowa FFA prosper and ensure a brighter future for youth in agriculture."

A student incentive program of $6,000 in scholarships has been established to award those students participating in this program. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University will award 10 scholarships while the Agriculture Department at Ellsworth Community College has also agreed to award two scholarships.

New center is for educational leadership development, and more!

The FFA Enrichment Center is a new, beautiful and unique facility dedicated to helping new generations of Iowans. Located on the Des Moines Area Community College's Ankeny Campus, the new center enhances the learning and leadership development opportunities of FFA members, FFA alumni, agricultural students, agricultural teachers and the general public.

Opened in early 2010, the FFA Enrichment Center is ideal for meetings, planning retreats, banquets, conferences, seminars and wedding receptions. Designed as an educational, leadership development center, each meeting room and large conference room includes basic AV set-up, projector, screen and multiple technology options. The FFA Enrichment Center is open to the general public and encourages business, industry, and educational organizations to use the Center for their space and training needs.
