More than 1,300 National Holstein members and enthusiasts attended the national convention held June 23-26 in Knoxville, Tenn.
Two young women from Wisconsin, Chrissy Wendorf of Viroqua, and Linda Behling of Fox Lake, were two of six members named National Distinguished Junior Members from a field of 12 finalists. Paul Lippert of Pittsville, was a finalist.
Linda was also elected to the National Junior Activities Committee.
Jacob Brey of Sturgeon Bay and Kelly Lee of Johnson Creek were selected as two of eight National Younger Distinguished Junior Members.
Throughout the convention, junior members from across the nation participated in numerous contests, including dairy quiz bowl, dairy jeopardy and other activities.
Wisconsin placed seventh out of 15 teams in the junior dairy bowl competition. The Wisconsin team from Fond du Lac County included: Ryan O'Leary, captain; Nicholas Schuster, Matthew O'Leary and Ben Julka. Nathan O'Leary and Cole Tidemann were alternates.
The team from Pennsylvania beat California to win the National Junior Dairy Bowl Contest.
In the senior division, the Wisconsin team finished 10th out of 16 teams. The Wisconsin team from Vernon County included: Chrissy Wendorf, captain; Brian Wendorf; Ashley Petersheim and Ashley Peterson.
The team from Illinois beat Washington twice to win the National Senior Dairy Bowl Contest.
