The 2008 National Holstein Convention will begin on Monday, June 23 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Hundreds of Holstein enthusiasts from across the nation will be in attendance to kick off a great week of meetings, tours, and the opportunity to explore the state of Wisconsin and all it has to offer.
Monday morning will kick off junior events, including scholarship and distinguished junior member interviews, the dairy jeopardy contest, speaking contest, junior luncheon, and conclude with the dairy bowl seating exam, Wisconsin Welcome Luau and state banner presentations. The Luau will be sponsored by Family Dairies and the Badger Dairy Club. Each junior participating in convention will get a backpack sponsored by Case-IH that is filled with Wisconsin agriculture products.
During the luau juniors present banners and items representing their state and enjoy a great opportunity to mingle with others from across the nation. Following the luau there will be a junior dance and the band Catchpenny will play. This band is special to Wisconsin as some of its members were former junior Holstein members and still participate in WHA events today.
Monday evening the adults will have the opportunity to enjoy Wisconsin’s finest award-winning cheeses, wine, and micro brews with a full meal, harpist, and flaming dessert poolside. The adult welcome will be sponsored by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and Select Sires, Inc, NorthStar and East Central/Select Sires. It is sure to be the kick-off event of the summer!
Registrations for convention are due to the Wisconsin Holstein Association office by May 10. For questions or a registration form, contact WHA at 1-800-223-4269 or visit the ’08 National Convention link on the web at www.wisholsteins.com.
