The Wisconsin Holstein Association will be awarding nearly $10,000 in scholarships at its annual Junior Holstein Convention being held January 2-4, 2009, at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton. The scholarship fund would not be possible without generous donations from various auctions and fundraising held throughout the year. This year, an auction will be held during the Saturday evening banquet at Junior Convention, Saturday, January 3.
Many fantastic items have been donated to the scholarship cause. Items include a Kalahari Resort two-night stay and a Chula Vista one-night stay. Two sets of UW-Madison Men's Basketball tickets will be auctioned off for games versus Northwestern on Jan. 7 and the Minnesota Jan. 15. A pair of UW-Madison Men's Hockey tickets have been donated by Ted Halbach, with the game to be determined.
A certificate for a choice of a Bonnie Mohr, a Rowe Pottery Watercooler, and the sixth giclee of the "Ladies of Wisconsin" print are on the auction block as well. Those looking for a new trimmer may enjoy a Progress Clippers, donated by Andis Company. Dr. Rick Daluge has donated a choice of one week of summer lodging or four nights mid-week during the winter at "The Doctors House," a cozy refurbished mining house near Hurley, WI, within minutes of downhill skiing.
The Milwaukee Bucks have donated four basketball tickets for lower section seats valued at $60 a piece to the game of purchaser's choice within the 2008-09 regular season. A Green Bay Packer helmet signed by Nick Collins will also be available.
Finally, an International 1026 Gold Demonstrator Pedal Tractor donated by Case-IH and Krista Knigge will be auctioned off. Those looking to pick up a few show-assisting items may also be interested in a "show basket" donated by Nasco in Fort Atkinson.
If interested in these items, please join us at the 2009 Junior Holstein Convention Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 3. If unable to attend, phone or email bids are welcome at 1-800-223-4269 or [email protected]. Please join us in supporting these outstanding dairy youth in the state of Wisconsin!
Scholarship applications for 2010 will be available on the WHA website soon, at www.wisholstiens.com. Applications are due March 1.
