Wisconsin Corn Stars On Kids' TV Show

'Into the Outdoors' to air story about corn week of Jan. 21 across the state.

Wisconsin corn is the star of a new episode of the children's television series Into the Outdoors set to air the week of Jan.21, on stations across the state and Columbia County Corn Grower Bill Hoffman is featured on the show.

Hoffman, a former president of the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association, appears on the television show discussing different types of corn and uses for the corn he grows. He also explains how family farms have changed and incorporated technology over the last 20 years. Another portion of this show features information on ethanol and was filmed at Didion Milling's Columbia Co., ethanol plant.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION: Wisconsin Corn Grower Bill Hoffman, Columbus, explains the difference between field corn and sweet corn to Stephan, host of an Into the Outdoors TV show episode set to air the week of Jan. 21. Video segments of the show also are posted online at .

The show is an outdoors television series that introduces a variety of outdoor subjects to children in fun and exciting ways. Currently in its eight year of broadcasting, the show won Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards for Excellence in Children's Programming seven consecutive years.

The WCGA represents the interest of state corn growers in the growing and managing of corn grown both for on-farm feeding and commercial sale. WCGA works with other organizations in areas of mutual concern, including sustainability, biotech issues, resistance management, farmland valuation, conservation, and the environment. WCGA brings together corn growers to provide information and education at regional corn conferences and the annual Wisconsin Corn/Soy EXPO. As part of the National Corn Growers Association, WCGA represents corn grower interests nationally and internationally and also sponsors the national corn yield contest.
