Wheat, Canola, Corn Take Center Stage

Field Day features K-State speakers, wheat variety tour.

Wheat, canola, and corn production in southwest Kansas will take center stage at a Spring Field Day on Monday, May 23 at Kansas State University’s Southwest Research-Extension Center in Garden City.

The field day begins at 2 p.m. and ends with supper at 7 p.m., sponsored by Ingersoll. The topics and K-State speakers include:

• What affects wheat yields – John Holman, cropping systems agronomist;

• Vertical tillage for corn production – DeAnn Presley, extension soil science and management specialist;

• Canola varieties – Mike Stamm, canola breeder;

• Integrating wheat diseases into variety selection – Erick DeWolf, extension wheat pathologist; and

• Wheat variety tour – Jim Shroyer, extension crop production specialist.
