Late last week, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service announced an extension in New York of the filing deadline for Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program and Wetlands Reserve Program.
The new application deadline is Jan. 26, 2007. That's if you want your application considered for fiscal year 2007 funding.
While you can sign up any time, Jan. 26 applies for first-round funding, says New York State Conservationist Ron Alvarado. Although farmers and producers can sign up any time, EQIP and WHIP applications must be received by January 26, 2007 to be considered for fiscal year 2007 funding. To be considered for the first round of WRP funding, applications must also be received by January 26, 2007.
If WRP funds remain available after January 26, additional rounds of funding will occur later in 2007. "I encourage all who may be interested in these programs to get their application in quickly," urges Alvarado
Due to their popularity, applications are ranked according to established criteria and are funded based on their ranking. Contact your local NRCS Field Office for more details.
