United Cooperative, based out of Beaver Dam, with locations throughout south-central Wisconsin, sponsored two Reedsburg Area High School students to attend the conference. JoEtte Horkan, Reedsburg, is the daughter of Tracy and Suzie Horkan. Katie Knuth, Loganville, is the daughter of Mike and Lesa Knuth.
Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 were eligible to participate in this exciting and educational program. The conference was designed to help them gain a better understanding of the role and operation of cooperatives. They were also taught to develop leadership skills, discover a problem-solving process they can use, and adjust to the teen issues they face.
The conference included a session on maximizing students' potential, and participants also learned about credit unions, alternative energy sources, careers in agriculture and cooperatives. The highlight of the conference was "Breakthrough Leadership Skills", a hands-on leadership workshop presented by Craig Hillier, CSP, Winning Edge Seminars, Lakeville, Minnesota.

United Cooperative has locations in Baraboo, Beaver Dam, Cazenovia, Deerfield, Hartford, Horicon, Hustisford, Iron Ridge, Johnson Creek, Juneau, Mayville, Pickett, Poynette, Prairie du Sac, Randolph, Reedsburg, Ripon, Rock Springs, Sauk City, South Beaver Dam, Watertown, and Wyocena.
United Cooperative sponsored two youth to attend the Cooperative Network Co-ops YES! Youth Leadership Conference. JoEtte Horkan, Reedsburg (right), is the daughter of Tracy and Suzie Horkan.
