Twelve-inch Corn Rows Possible With Calmer's New Head

Twelve-inch Corn Rows Possible With Calmer's New Head

Collaboration with Stein Seed Company Helps Calmer Design one-foot rows.

Working in conjunction with Stine Seed Company, Calmer Corn Heads is taking narrow rows to new measurements.

Calmer's 12-inch row corn head will allow corn growers to push plant populations well past 40,000 seeds per acre while maintaining adequate space. Company officials say the 12-inch corn head will retail for around $7,500 per row.

Increased plant populations are shown to make better use of soil moisture and nutrients as well as combat weeds once the crop canopy is established.

For more information, contact Calmer Corn Heads, Alpha, Ill., at (309) 629-9000.

This very busy corn head works on 12-inch rows on fields with up to 40,000 plants per acre.
