Traders Eye Weather, USDA Reports

Grain futures mixed overnight as markets wonder if Friday's data will make a difference. (audio)

Markets were quiet overnight with mixed trade seen as the electronic only session begins to wind down. While the trade expects USDA to report larger corn and soybean crops on Friday, Farm Futures estimates are some of the lowest in the industry. Still, carryout looks plentiful, especially for corn, limiting rally potential. Wheat traders are nervous about the impact of this morning's brutally cold weather, with some winterkill likely on hard red winter fields in the Plains that lack adequate snow cover.
