The Illinois and Indiana FFA Foundations hope to benefit once again from their partnership with Titan Tire at the 2007 Farm Progress Show. For the past several years, Titan Tires has hosted an auction on the first two days of the show. That will happen again this year, on Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 30, at 1 p.m. CDT.
The auction will be held at the Titan Tires exhibit. It is denoted in the show program, available at information booths. The FFA tent is located next to the Titan Tire booth. This is a real auction, with a real auctioneer, bid paddles, and real dollars. Once you purchase an item, it's yours to go home with as you see fit.
Kurt Aumann is tentatively scheduled to be the auctioneer for this event. Specializing in toy tractors, antique tractors and petroleum memorabilia, the Nokomis, Ill., resident is one of the premier auctioneers in the Midwest.
Titan Tire just released the list of tires that will be available. There are tires for everything from ATVs to big tractors included. The entire offering of Titan and Goodyear tires in the two-day sale tops $64,000 retail, Titan spokespersons say. Bidders can buy one or a pair of tires.
Other items besides tires donated by other ag companies will also be offered for sale. These usually include everything from certificates for several bags of seed corn, to vouchers for ag chemicals, to caps and jackets.
Proceeds will be split evenly between the Illinois and Indiana FFA Foundations.
Sale organizers do their best to split offerings between the two days so that each sale is of value to someone attending, especially for someone coming for tires. If you're attending the sale, you're still required to pay admission to the show, as any visitor would. Prospective bidders are encouraged to register in advance of the sale on the day they attend the show.
