Three More Brand Input Meetings Set

Three More Brand Input Meetings Set

Locations are Burwell, Valentine and Kearney.

There will only be three more opportunities to go to a Nebraska Cattlemen sponsored Brand Input Meeting where participants will be talking about brand inspection, brand recording and brand investigation. Nebraska is a state that is split; the west side of the state has brand inspection, while the east side does not. Those who raise cattle or are involved with the industry are invited to come share their thoughts on this topic.

The last three meetings are listed as follows: Sept. 7, Burwell Livestock Market in Burwell at 7 p.m. CST; Sept.8, Valentine Livestock Market in Valentine at 7 p.m. CST; Sept. 15, Huss Livestock Market in Kearney at 7 p.m. CST

All cattle producers and interested individuals are invited to attend.

"We have heard a lot of ideas, many polar opposites, some have had a lot of thought," says Michael Kelsey, Nebraska Cattlemen executive vice president. "These next three meetings will be the last chances to discuss this important issue before we begin to tally the input we have received since January."

At the 2010 Nebraska Cattlemen Convention, the membership directed the organization to gather data about brand inspection and hold informational meetings to educate and listen to producers about this issue. At each of the meetings, input from producers will be recorded. Nebraska Cattlemen appreciates the Nebraska Brand Committee's involvement in these meetings.
