Tennessee Veterinarian Recruits Most New NCBA Members
Hugh McCampbell , DVM, wins third straight NCBA Top Hand Award.

Tennessee Veterinarian Hugh McCampbell was recognized during the 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and National Cattlemen's Beef Association as the Top Hand Club Award champion for recruiting the most new NCBA members during 2011. McCampbell, of Sweetwater, Tenn., has been in the Top Hand Club for three years and has been recognized as the club champion all three, recruiting 187 new members during that time. He recruited 50 new members in 2011 alone.

In all, 244 NCBA members in the 2011 NCBA Top Hand Club recruited 779 new members. Twenty-seven Top Hands recruited at least 10 new members and received exclusive personalized 2011 Top Hand belt buckles made by Red Bluff Buckles for their efforts.

Earning the Reserve Champion Award by recruiting the second most new NCBA members in 2011 was NCBA President Bill Donald of Melville, Mont.  During his sixth year in the Top Hand Club, Donald recruited 30 new NCBA members. Dale Lueck of Aitkin, Minn., recruited 24 new members and was recognized as third top recruiter.

Initiated in 1982, the Top Hand Club is NCBA's "member-recruit-a-member" program that recognizes volunteer leaders for their commitment to growing a strong national association. The Top Hand Club is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. To become a Top Hand Member, active NCBA members recruit three new members to the organization in the first fiscal year (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30), and recruit two new members each subsequent years to remain in the club. Top Hands earn prizes for their efforts. For more information, call 866-BEEFUSA (866-233-3872) or visit Top Hand Club online at
