Syngenta, Bayer Glufosinate-Tolerant Soybean Deregulated

Syngenta, Bayer Glufosinate-Tolerant Soybean Deregulated

USDA releases final environmental assessment, finding of no significant impact document.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service last week announced a determination of nonregulated status for Syngenta Seeds, Inc., and Bayer CropScience's soybean genetically engineered to tolerate exposure to the herbicides glufosinate and mesotrione.

With the determination, USDA also released its finding of no significant impact document.

According to the determination of nonregulated status document, USDA found that the soybean, SYHT0H2, could be removed from regulation because it is unlikely to pose a plant risk and will not have a significant impact on the quality of the human environment or federally listed threatened and endangered species.
