Ranch Management Field Days to be held Sept. 26.

The Kansas Livestock Association, in cooperation with Kansas State University is holding the third in this year's series of Ranch Man¬agement Field Days on Sept. 26 on the Gant-Larson Ranch near Medicine Lodge. Sponsored by Bayer Animal Health and the Farm Credit Associations of Kansas, the event will feature a discussion about succession planning for family ranches and a live horseback demonstration of effective cattle-handling techniques.

Gant-Larson is owned by Bob and Charlene Larson and leased by Pat and Anita Bedwell. Bob Larson and Pat Bedwell are speakers on the panel address¬ing how to keep a ranch intact for future generations. The other speaker on the panel, Frontier Farm Credit Senior Vice President of Business Services Dennis Roddy, will explain the advantages and pitfalls of succession planning and provide examples of what some families are doing to accommodate heirs.

Cattle-handling clinician Buster McLaury will show those in attendance how to work cattle to maximize profits. He has more than 30 years experience in ef¬fective horse- and cattle-handling techniques.

The field day will begin with a free lunch at noon and adjourn at 5 p.m. just ahead of the first performance of the Kansas Championship Ranch Rodeo in Medicine Lodge. Half-price rodeo tickets will be available at the field day. For more information, go to or call the KLA office.
