Corey Geiger of Mukwonago was elected president of the Wisconsin Holstein board of directors for 2008 during the group's annual meeting held at the House on the Rock Inn in Dodgeville Feb. 22-23. Geiger is associate editor at Hoard's Dairyman magazine in Fort Atkinson.
Other officers elected to the state Holstein board include: Mark Gilbertson, Hollandale, vice president; and Jim Rickert, Eldorado, secretary. Rickert, Kelli Cull of Lomira, Bob Traynor from Spring Valley and out-going president Lynn Harbaugh were all re-elected to another three-year term on the board. Other board members include Bill Case, Bob Gates, Brian Herr, Brian Krull, and Annie Hulle.
The Iowa County Holstein Breeders, in coordination with the Wisconsin Holstein Association, hosted the annual Adult Holstein .More than 140 Holstein breeders from across the state attended the convention.
Honored at the Saturday evening banquet are this year's Young Distinguished Breeder, Distinguished Service, and Distinguished Breeder award winners. This year's Young Distinguished Breeders were Mark and Angie Ulness of Ragnar Holsteins, Valders. Honored with the Distinguished Service recognition was Henk Van Dyk of New Richmond. Receiving the prestigious Distinguished Breeder honors was the Tom and Teri Lyon family of Maple-Lawn Farms, Westfield.
