Get warnings of potential wheat scab outbreaks via email or text messages from the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative.

The USWBSI is offering real time alerts for Fusarium head blight updates/field reports. The alerts are based on the commentary of wheat disease specialists throughout the country and are part of the disease prediction and outreach efforts sponsored by the Initiative. The tool can be accessed on-line at:

The alerts can be delivered to you in multiple ways. This form allows you to sign up for cell phone text messages (sms) and/or email alerts. The "National" commentary provides a general overview of the disease situation and is most useful when paired with one or more regional commentaries. You can choose to receive messages from as many regions as you like or select the "All" option to receive all available information.

A sample text message on your cell phone will appear as: "FHB Update – Great Plains, HWW Region. The originating region of the post immediately follows the text "FHB Update". In this example, the region is "Great Plains, HWW Region". The link provided in the text message takes you to the USWBSI blog where the whole text of the message can be viewed, along with links to other tools such as the "Fusarium Head Blight Risk Assessment Tool Email alerts will contains the full text of the update along with any relevant links.
