Peggy Noll is working to change that at Noll's Farm Market and Pumpkin Farm near Somerset.

They say kids don't know where their food comes from. Peggy Noll is working to change that at Noll's Farm Market and Pumpkin Farm near Somerset. Every fall schools sign up to come visit the farm. Mostly the kids have fun running through the corn maze or the straw maze or riding the over-sized tricycles or creating their own scare crows. But they also find out what a gilt is and why it might be called a "Hamp" and what one feels like to touch. They learn the difference is between a milk cow and beef cow.  They see where the hens lay their eggs. They learn about gourds and they get to pick a pumpkin to take home. As they tour the corn maze they find signs offering all kinds of corn facts.

"I love agriculture," says Peggy, a Wilmington College grad, who grew up on the farm she now shares with the kids. Here she is with the Bremen Elementary kindergarten classes and their teachers and parents. It's just one of the hundreds of groups of kids that visit the farm each fall.
