Mark your calendars to attend the Second Annual Beef Producers Field Day on July 19 at Hilleman Angus Farm in Richland Center. The field day is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Extension Richland County and the Richland County Beef.
Hilleman Angus is owned and operated by Bill and Judy Hilleman. Dr. Bill is a veterinarian for Shireman Veterinary Clinic in Richland Center and has a purebred herd of Angus cattle. Dr. Bill was awarded the Cattleman of the Year award by the Wisconsin Cattleman's Association in 2007, and had the top indexing bull at the Platteville bull test station in 2008.
The program begins at 3:30 p.m. with registration at the Richland Middle School parking lot. Participants will be shuttled to the farm for a tour and a discussion of the breeding program. At 5 p.m. the Richland County Beef Producers will be grilling a steak dinner. During dinner, Dr. Hilleman will have small group ultrasound demonstrations. Following dinner, there will be a breakout session where producers can choose to attend a presentation on the Badger Vac 45 Preconditioning Program or on Estrus Synchronization in the beef herd.
The program cost is $12 which includes the meal and materials. Please pre-register by July 14 to ensure an accurate meal count. To register, contact Adam Hady at the Richland County Extension Office, (608) 647-6148. You may also get a flyer for the event on-line at http://Richland.uwex.edu/ag.
