More than 30 producers serve supper at The Banquet in Sioux Falls.

More than 30 South Dakota farmers served supper at The Banquet in Sioux Falls March 18 as part of National Ag Week.

"South Dakota Farmers care about their neighbors.  We realize that now our country is facing difficult economic times, this is way for farmers to give back and lend a helping hand," says Steve Dick, Executive Director of Ag United for South Dakota.

Serving at the banquet is not the first time that South Dakota farm families have helped their neighbors with food. Over 5,000 pounds of pork and 1,000 gallons of milk have been donated by farm families to the Community Food Banks of South Dakota since last November.

"Just like all South Dakotans, farm families have also faced the challenges of our current economic crisis, however, they also understand that they been blessed with bountiful harvests and want to be helpful," Dick says.

Ag United for South Dakota is a coalition of farm organizations with a goal of keeping family farms growing.  Coalition members include the South Dakota Cattleman's Association, the South Dakota Corn Growers Association, the South Dakota Dairy Producers, South Dakota Farm Bureau, South Dakota Pork Producers Council, and the South Dakota Soybean Association.  To learn more, visit www.agunited.org.
