Salford Group Buys BBI Spreaders

Salford Group Buys BBI Spreaders

Company known for tillage, seeding and fertilizer application branches out with BBI purchase.

Two private companies have merged in the ag business. Salford Group purchased BBI Spreaders early in October. The move was called a good fit for Salford by its president, Geof Gray, who commented in a press statement: "BBI is a great fit for us because they come to the market with the same philosophy as Salford - create simple, durable equipment with innovations that improve the profitability of the farm business."

Salford Group buys BBI Spreaders. There's little overlap in each product line.

The two lines are complimentary to one another allowing each to reach new markets. Both companies gain access to new sales territories that will strengthen the network of dealerships already in place. Over time the two company's engineering departments will collaborate on new product developments.

BBI will keep making its spreader line in Georgia, and Richard Hagler, president BBI Spreaders, will continue to manage manufacturing operations of the new Salford unit.

The two companies will have their joint debut next week at the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Georgia. The Salford sales team members will be on hand to celebrate the addition of BBI Spreaders to its design, manufacturing and marketing family. And Salford will have one of its latest patented tillage designs in the BBI booth, alongside many of BBI's top products for broadcast nutrient application.

Adds BBI's Hagler: "We are thrilled to join the Salford family. This is an opportunity for our great team at BBI to join forces with another winning team at Salford Group. This new entity is one that will be aligned in its values."
