Rep. Lucas Re-Elected As Chairman Of House Ag Committee

Lucas says he is 'grateful' for the re-election

The House Republican Conference re-elected Rep. Frank Lucas of Oklahoma on Wednesday to serve a second term as Chairman of the Agriculture Committee for the 113th Congress.

Lucas said in a statement that the re-election was "an honor" and he was grateful to continue working in the position.

"I am proud of the work the Committee has completed over the past two years.  We have provided valuable oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that our agricultural producers are not burdened with unreasonable and costly regulations," Lucas said.

"And, we advanced a strong, reform-minded, fiscally responsible farm bill that can save billions of dollars and provide certainty to our agricultural producers.  This process is not complete though I am confident that it's just a matter of time."

Lucas noted that he was looking forward to working with colleagues on rural issues.
