Registration for UW-Discovery Farms annual winter conference taking place on Dec. 9 is now open. This year's theme is "Managing Nitrogen: More for the Plant, Less Leaving the Field."
The one-day conference is a great educational opportunity for farmers, crop consultants, governmental agencies, and the general public. Conference presenters include farmers and renowned soil fertility and nitrogen management experts from Arkansas, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

You'll have a chance to hear all about the hot topics in nitrogen management from those who are foremost in the field, at the front lines of nitrogen research and technology. Topics will include: *Technologies for in-season nitrogen application
*Slow-release nitrogen products
*Nitrogen use efficiency as an assessment tool
*Cover crops
*Tile drainage
The conference will conclude with a panel of farmers, farm consultants, and manure and nitrogen researchers sharing their experiences managing nitrogen with the goal of more for the plant, and less leaving the field.
Mark your calendar for Dec. 9. The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Glacier Canyon Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells. A total of 4 CEUs are available. Registration is $50 and includes lunch and materials. Members of sponsoring organizations receive $20 off the registration price.
