Liberal is host for 2012, 2013 festivals; more than 5,000 visitors, 150 exhibitors are expected.

Community representatives and entrepreneurs from every part of the state are invited to provide the public a sample of what there is to see, do, hear, taste, buy and learn in Kansas at the 20th annual Kansas Sampler Festival.

Registration deadline is January 31. The Sampler Festival will be held May 5-6 in Liberal's Light Park. It will be held in Liberal again in 2013 before moving to another location in 2014.

Registration is open to those who want to promote what there is to see and do in their community, those who make and want to sell a Kansas product, Kansas-based musicians or artists, and food vendors who have a specialty item or ethnic recipe. People who have an old-time craft to demonstrate are also welcome.

The festival director will be Sally Fuller, director of the Liberal Convention & Visitors Bureau. Fuller said, "Everyone is so excited and so pleased that Liberal will be the next host. One county commissioner said it was better than winning the lottery. People that attend the festival will see that Liberal is a thriving city on the move and they will be amazed at our progress and prosperity."

WenDee LaPlant of the Kansas Sampler Foundation said, "The weekend-long festival usually attracts between 5,000 and 7,000 people. In addition to experiencing all there is to see and do in the state, it's great way to network with more than 150 exhibitors. Every town in the state should have representation at this Kansas celebration."

The festival is a project of the non-profit Kansas Sampler Foundation whose mission is to preserve and sustain rural culture. The local effort to organize the festival is led by Sally Fuller of the Liberal Convention & Visitor's Bureau.

The festival has also been held on the Penner Farm near Inman, Pratt, Ottawa, Independence, Newton, Garden City, Concordia and Leavenworth. It moves to a new site every two years.
