Redefining the Milky Way at the 2007 PDPW Annual Business Conference

Annual event to be held March 13-14 in Madison.

Hold onto your seats and be ready to blast off at the PDPW Annual Business Conference March 13-14 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Attendees at this top-notch conference can explore the latest technologies, converse with and learn from leading expert speakers, and share ideas, experiences and solutions with other dairy enthusiasts.

Step out of the realm of a dairy producer and explore the mindset of today's consumer. Charlie Arnot, will explain why consumers get lost in translation and do not understand animal agriculture issues. Arnot, president of CMA Consulting, works with companies and organizations across the food chain including leading producers, processors, restaurants and retailers. This well-versed professional with bring his understanding of production agriculture in order for attendees to see and understand the opinions and outlook of consumers.

Attendees won't want to miss the Hall of Ideas, a spectacular tradeshow where industry's preferred suppliers will available to answer questions, share advice and showcase their latest ideas and technologies.

Conference highlights include an update of the Farm Bill, along with details on its impact on Wisconsin dairies, and a look at Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.'s unique philosophies. Other topics include manure handling systems, value-added markets, renewable energy, Carbon credits and cow management.

At the conference's conclusion, Captain James Lovell, an astronaut from Apollo 13, will share his dynamic, courageous story of a successful failure. This top astronaut and his crew faced almost certain death when their oxygen system failed two hundred thousand miles from Earth. Lovell, played by Tom Hanks in the 1995 movie Apollo 13, takes this colossal obstacle and ties it into the dairy business and daily challenges in his final keynote of the conference.

Advance registration for this two-day event is $175 for PDPW members and $250 for non-members. Single day registration is $100 for PDPW members and $175 for non-members. Cost for a dairy to become a PDPW member is $75 annually, which includes all employees and family on the dairy.
