It's officially dairy month! And by official, I mean State of Indiana Executive Order Proclamation official:
"Whereas, more than 1,200 Hoosier dairy farm families manage 174,000 cows which produce 3.8 billion pounds of milk, ranging Indiana fourteenth in the nation in milk production; and
"Whereas, Indiana's dairy farm practices are responsible, committed and sustainable; and
"Whereas, Indiana is proud of its dairy industry and the important contributions it makes to the welfare of its citizens and to its economy, bringing strength and vitality to rural communities throughout the state; andCelebrate with a glass of milk: June is dairy month. Indiana is proud to have more than 1,200 dairy farm families.
"Whereas, Indiana dairy farmers are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality milk and dairy products, which includes caring for the animals and the land, and
"Whereas, June Dairy Month offers an opportunity to honor Indiana dairy farm families who provide Hoosiers with a wide variety of fresh wholesome dairy products, which offer essential vitamins and minerals for strong bones and healthy bodies;
"Now, therefore, I, Michael R. Pence, Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby proclaim June 2014 as Indiana Dairy Month in the State of Indiana, and invite all citizens to join the campaign, celebrate June Dairy Month and recognize Indiana dairy farm families."
