Quantity Loss Signup Underway

The Farm Service Agency is signing up producers for quantity loss payments.

Signup for Quantity Losses under the Crop Disaster Program is being conducted by the USDA's Farm Service Agency. According to Glen Keppy of FSA, producers who suffered a crop loss in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and planted their crops before Feb. 28 this year are eligible for the program.

"The producer will have to pick which year he wants to use," Keppy says. "Now if there is multiple crops within that year the benefits are eligible on multiple crops, but there is only one year that can be chosen."

Keppy says the deadline for signup has not been determined yet. He also says the signup for the quality side of the Crop Disaster Program will be announced at a future date.
