Putze Named To Farmers & Ranchers Alliance Board

Iowa Soybean Association staff member Aaron Putze has been appointed to the board of directors of the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance. USFRA is a new group representing 28 ag organizations; the primary goal is to build trust among consumers about production agriculture.

Aaron Putze, director of external relations for the Iowa Soybean Association, has been appointed to the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance board of directors.

The USFRA ( represents nearly 30 leading farmer- and rancher-led agricultural organizations that have joined together to develop messages and programs that enhance public trust in America's food supply.

"It's a privilege to serve Iowa's farmers and to be their voice as a member of the USFRA board," says Putze, who will also participate as a member of the USFRA's communications advisory committee.

"Consumers respect farm families but have genuine questions about food safety, environmental quality and livestock well-being," he adds. "The USFRA will engage consumers on these issues to help farm families maintain the freedom they need to provide food and fiber in a responsible manner to a growing population both here at home and abroad."

Alliance seeks to build trust between consumers and agriculture

Putze's representation offers Iowa's farmers a unique opportunity for input and collaboration on a national effort supporting American agriculture, says Iowa Pork Producers Association president Leon Sheets of Ionia.

"The USFRA is the only farmer- and rancher-led national organization funded largely by farmers whose sole purpose and focus is to enhance ag awareness among high-value audiences," says Sheets. "Iowa's been a leader in developing and implementing state consumer engagement initiatives and we look forward to being a resource to the USFRA and cooperating with them whenever possible."

Serving on the USFRA board is a perfect fit for Putze. In his role with ISA, the West Bend, Iowa, native coordinates ISA partnerships with local, state and national farm organizations and manages new and emerging issues that have implications for Iowa farmers and their communities. He also engages key audiences to enhance opportunities for farmers and their customers and shares the intriguing and powerful story of farming and the men and women who go to work each day to feed a hungry world with civic, community, agriculture and school audiences.

Putze is a member of the Animal Ag Alliance board of directors, Iowa FFA Alumni Association, Waukee Rotary and Westside Kiwanis of Waukee-West Des Moines. In 2009, he was named an Honorary Iowa Master Pork Producer by the IPPA. The ISA develops policies and programs that help farmers expand profit opportunities while promoting environmentally sensitive production using the soybean checkoff and other resources. ISA serves nearly 7,000 members and is governed by an elected volunteer board of 21 farmers. The IPPA is an industry inclusive grassroots organization whose mission is to provide a unified voice to promote and educate for a sustainable, socially responsible, profitable and globally competitive pork industry.
