Prescribed Burn Subject of Russell Workshop

Prescribed burning workshop will be Oct. 31.

Kansas State University's Russell County research and extension will cooperate with the Russell County Conservation District, Russell County NRCS and Russell County Farm Service Agency in hosting a prescribed burning workshop next Friday, Oct. 31.

The workshop will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and the program at 9:30 a.m. Topics will include CRP Maintenance and Management Practices; When and Why to Burn, Burn Notification and Local Regulations, Using a Burn Contractor, Burn Terminology and Fire Behavior; Planning and Conducting a Burn and Burn Equipment Demonstration.

Lunch is sponsored by UMB Bank in Russell and Luray. Russell County producers can attend for free, courtesy of Russell County Conservation District.

For out of county residents, registration is $10. Call the Russell County Extension Office by next Monday, Oct. 27, to register. The number is 785-483-3157.
