Pork Checkoff Offers Open House Kits

Pork Checkoff Offers Open House Kits

Kits allow producers to publicize new facilities and invite the public to their farm

The Pork Checkoff is now providing We Care Open House Kits for producers looking to gain media and community attention for the opening or redesign of their barns.

"We have sponsored several open houses for new hog barns in Illinois and found them to be a very positive experience," said Tim Maiers, director of public relations for the Illinois Pork Producers Association. "They are an excellent opportunity to show the public what goes on behind the walls of the barn and to share the story of the farm family involved in the project."

Compiled on a CD, the kit includes newspaper advertisements, a sample agenda, sample press release and other tools to promote the open house. Each document highlights the We Care initiative.

By promoting open house events for hog barns, producers can demonstrate their commitment to their communities while displaying the economic impact and value of the facility.

To order your We Care Open House Kit, contact the Pork Checkoff Service Center at (800) 456-7675 or visit porkstore.pork.org
