While day-to-day management on a dairy operation often takes all of your time and energy, planning for the future may be the most important thing for your business and for your family.
Dairy producers are urged to attend the upcoming one-day Business Transition Seminar, brought to you by Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW). PDPW is proud to offer this important seminar throughout the state, allowing you to select the session that works best in your schedule. On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the training will be held at the Holiday Inn in Fond du Lac, on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Sleep Inn in Eau Claire, and on Thursday, Aug. 14 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
Business transition is the process of preparing a business to be transferred to a successor. It sounds simple, but it is an intricate process. If done properly it can be a rewarding experience. Handled improperly the business transition becomes a nightmare. There are truly no second chances in business transition.
George Twohig and his team of panelists will guide you through the transition process. He’ll utilize a case study, allowing you to relate your newfound knowledge to your personal situation. You’ll step through how to develop and analyze a balance sheet of your current operation, and you will learn the nitty-gritty of developing a transfer plan, including the when and how to make the transition smooth, successful and profitable through the entire process.
Throughout the day, you’ll receive guidance directly from two fellow dairy producers, who have already begun or even completed the business transition process. Dan Natzke from Wayside Dairy Farm, Inc., Wayside, and Dan Siemers from Siemers Holstein Farm, Inc., Cleveland, will share their straight and honest experiences. You’ll also hear firsthand about experiences and advice from an ag lender who will bring their important perspective and share their decades of experience.
Bring your business partner, spouse, son or daughter. To get the most out of this training, we encourage all generations involved in your business to attend this conference together – to hear, learn and work hand-in-hand towards the future. This one-day investment will last decades, potentially centuries.
Cost for the PDPW Business Transition Seminar is $150 for members. When multiple individuals attend from the same dairy, additional individuals are only $75 per person.
Registration for non members is $250 for the first person and $100 for each additional individual from that dairy. Registration includes all training materials, meals and refreshments. To register or receive additional information, visit www.pdpw.org or call 800-947-7379. Please pre-register by Monday, Aug. 4. All PDPW educational programs, such as the Business Transition Seminar, are open to anyone interested in the agriculture industry.
