Panel to Discuss Farm Bill at Empire Farm Days

N.Y. Farm Bureau to host Farm Bill update on Wednesday.

The U.S. House of Representatives has finished hammering together its version for a 2007 Farm Bill. But it's bleeding from a huge cost overrun, which the U.S. Senate will begin addressing in September. So much is yet to be done before any compromise legislation goes to the President for signing.

On Wednesday, Aug. 8, you can get a glimpse of what's coming down the road in a special Farm Bill Update public session at 2 p.m. in the Special Events Building at Empire Farm Days just south of Seneca Falls, N.Y.

The session will be hosted by New York Farm Bureau. At this point, the panel members committed are: John Johnson, undersecretary for farm programs at U.S. Department of Agriculture; Pat Hooker, commissioner of New York Department of Agriculture and Markets; and John Lincoln, president of N.Y. Farm Bureau.

The Special Events Building is on the west side of the Empire Farm Days site, south of Seneca Falls on Route 414.
