Options Expiration Triggers Battle In Soybeans

Options Expiration Triggers Battle In Soybeans

Futures rally overnight to extend this week's gains for soybeans, winter wheat. (Audio)

Grain futures are higher across the board this morning, with soybeans and wheat leading gains. Soybeans traded back and forth during the overnight session before moving to new highs, with November trading above $10, a key strike price ahead of today’s expiration of nearby options. Wheat is finding support from news reports that dry conditions could hurt Russia’s winter wheat crop, which is already facing colder temperatures.

Senior Market Analyst Bryce Knorr offers his insight into overnight trade, listen using the audio tool on this page.

Weather news from Russia bolsters wheat, options expiration pushes up soybeans.
