North Dakotans Don't Want Asian Soybean Rust to Take Them By Surprise
Delegation goes to Florida for course on identifying and controlling the disease

A delegation representing the North Dakota Soybean Council and the North Dakota State University Extension Service attended an Asian soybean rust short course in Florida last week to learn about the latest identification and control measures.

We are taking a proactive approach in preparing for a potential outbreak, says Monte Peterson, North Dakota Soybean Council vice chairman.

"Once soybean rust is in a field, it spreads quickly and easily - simply by wearing infected clothes from one field to another - and it has the potential to cause huge reductions in yield."
