North American Livestock Expo Continues This Week

North American Livestock Expo Continues This Week
Huge show in Louisville continues through Friday.

Hoosiers will fill up much of the space alongside entries from all over the country again this week at the North American Livestock Expo in Louisville, Ky. It's billed as the largest livestock show in the world.

The final week is the time that beef cattle events take precedence. There will also be open class showing of sheep, including Southdown and Hampshire breeds. And if you're into goats, this is the week for goats to show at the event.

NAILE, which began back on Nov. 3, winds up Friday, Nov. 16. All animals are released by 3 p.m. local time. You can check a complete show schedule of events still remaining by visiting the official website at:

Big Show: The North American Livestock Exposition in Louisville will draw lots of Hoosiers this week.

The swine junior show was the first weekend. Results are posted in the results section of the website. The junior market lamb show and breeding ewe show results should also be posted in the results section.

As big part of the North American event is the giant country store. It features everything from large-ticket items that livestock producers need to feeders to show supplies. There are also plenty of exhibitors displaying western clothes, hats, boots, jewelry and a variety of craft items. Some people say the trip to NAILE is worth it to check out the country store by itself. The Giant Country Store closes down at noon on Friday, Nov. 16.

If you need a show stick for beef cattle or a new pair of clippers, a cattle stand or a sheep stand for clipping, you will find an exhibitor selling it at the show. There also will be a large number of show boxes of various descriptions offered for sale at the booths.

Food service is available inside the arena. Shows and judging contests run continuously during the show, until noon on Friday.
