Townspeople will learn how a horse can sleep standing up, how many sweaters the wool from one sheep will make and how milk gets from the cow to the kitchen table at NDSU's "Moos, Ewes and More!" event Saturday, Sept. 17.

NDSU's Animal Sciences Department is hosting the free event in Fargo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NDSU Equine Center on 19th Avenue North in Fargo.

Attendees will meet the animals that call NDSU home, the farm managers who care for them, and the faculty and staff who teach and do research in the Animal Sciences Department.

They'll also have the chance to experience interactive agriculture and animal demonstrations, such as milking a cow, emergency dog care and sheep shearing, as well as enjoy BBQ Boot Camp samples and dairy product treats.

"North Dakota is proud of its agricultural background, and NDSU is excited about the opportunity to help families bridge the gap between urban and farm life," says Stacey Ostby, veterinary technologist in the Animal Sciences Department., who is helping organize the event.
