Maya Is Supreme Champion Cow At World Dairy Expo
Canadian Holstein walks away with top honors.


World Dairy Expo culminated with the supreme champion ceremony where Bonaccueil Maya Goldwyn, owned by Ty-D Holsteins, Drolet and Fils, Ferme Jacobs, A. and R. Boulet, Inc. of Cap-Sante, Quebec, received the top honor.

Earlier in the day, Maya was named the winning six-year-old and older cow, senior champion and champion bred and owned of the International Holstein Show, adding on to her title of grand champion. In 2012, Maya made quite the impression on the world stage, taking home honors as the 2012 reserve All-Canadian five-year-old. She was also reserve grand champion of Quebec's Three Rivers Expo Show, second place five-year-old at last fall's Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and third place five-year-old at the 2012 Quebec International Fall Show. This Excellent 95-point cow is out of Bonaccueil Maya Thunder and sired by Braedale Goldwyn. As supreme champion, Maya is awarded the Gregory Blaska Memorial Trophy, $1,500 cash award courtesy of BouMatic, a champion sash, a royal blanket and a director's chair.

KHW Regiment Apple-3-ETN, owned by Westcoast Holsteins of Chilliwack, British Columbia, took home the honor of Reserve Supreme Champion.  Apple 3 dominated, earning the title grand champion of the International Red & White Show on Oct., 4. She was named winning four-year-old cow and senior champion. Already on her resume, Apple-3 was the 2011 first place junior two-year-old and intermediate champion at World Dairy Expo. This Very Good 89-point cow third clone of KHW Regiment Apple-ET, out of Kamps Hollow Altitude-ET, was sired by Carrousel Regiment-Red. Westcoast Holsteins, located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, strives for top quality genetics that have both deep pedigrees and show style – evident by their recognition as premier exhibitor this year at the International Red & White Show. As reserve supreme champion, Apple-3 received $1,000 from Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., a champion sash, a royal blanket and a director's chair.

Junior honors
Willdina Jade Bee was crowned supreme champion of the Junior Show at World Dairy Expo. Bee was exhibited by siblings Nic, Jeni, Ben and Andy Sauder of River Valley Dairy of Tremont, Ill. Bee kicked off Expo as winner of her five-year-old class, and went on to win both grand and senior champion of the Jersey Junior Show. Bee has been climbing the showring ladder since 2009. She was named reserve junior champion in 2009 at World Dairy Expo, and two years later won the reserve grand champion title at the 2011 International Jersey Junior Show. The third time is the charm when Bee returned this year to take the supreme champion crown of the Junior Show. Bee was bred by Willdina Farms in Bowmanville, Ontario, sired by Giprat Belles Jade and is the daughter of Hermitage Duaiseoir Bette. Bee is classified Excellent 91.

The Sauders are well known at World Dairy Expo, exhibiting four grand champions in the past five years. As supreme champion of the Junior Show, Bee, Nic, Jeni, Ben, and Andy will receive a $1,000 Cash Award courtesy of BouMatic, a royal blanket, and a director's chair. 

Cleland Advent Korie-Red-ET, exhibited by Joseph, Zacharia, Jerome and Darian Stransky and Ryan Lauber of Owatonna, Minn. was named the reserve supreme champion of the Junior Show. In addition to being the grand champion Red & White Holstein and winning aged cow of the Junior Show, she swept the Minnesota State Fair, taking first aged cow, best udder and grand champion in both the open and junior shows. In 2012, Korie was the fourth five-year-old at the International Red & White Show and the Nominated All-American Red & White Five-Year-Old. Korie was bred by Jim and Vicky Cleland of Clinton, Wis. She is sired by KHW Kite Advent-RED-ET and is the daughter of Cleland VRR Kyran-Red-ET. Along with the honorary title, Korie received a $500 Cash Award courtesy of Udder Comfort, a royal blanket and a director's chair.
