The North Dakota Wheat Commission hosted a trade team from South Korea last week.
The team members included four major flour milling companies represent 70% of wheat market in Korea.
"Korea is a large market for U.S. hard red spring wheat," says Erica Olson, NDWC marketing specialist. "They are generally a top 10 market for our exports and in 2008/09 they purchased 12 million bushels of HRS, making them the fourth largest export market."
The Koreans met with NDSU's hard red spring wheat breeder and NDSU's hard red spring wheat quality specialist. They received an update crop conditions and the supply and demand situation from the NDWC and visited the Northern Crops Institute, a grain elevator and a farm.
