USDA will provide more than $6.4 million in grant funds to 33 organizations in 22 states, the
USDA's Rural Community Development Initiative helps nonprofit community based development organizations, federally recognized Indian tribes and low-income communities to improve their ability to promote economic growth. Recipients are required to obtain matching funds, doubling the money spent towards the grant's end.
States receiving funding include: Alaska, Ark., Calif., Ga., Idaho, Ill., Ind., Ky., Mass., Maine, Mont., N.C., Neb., NY, Ohio, Okla., Ore., S.D. Texas, Va., Wash., and Wis. Also receiving funding are organizations in the
