Private exporters said Japan bought 101,600 metric tons of U.S. corn and unknown destinations bought 107,696 tonnes, all for delivery during the 2014/2015 marketing year, USDA said on Wednesday.

The marketing year for corn begins Sept. 1.

Last week’s USDA export data showed Japan is currently the second largest buyer of 2014/2015 U.S. corn behind Mexico.

USDA issues both daily and weekly export sales reports to the public.  Exporters are required to report to USDA any export sales activity of 100,000 tons or more of one commodity, made in one day or quantities totaling 200,000 tons or more in any reporting period.
