For 68 years National FFA Week has been a time for members across the Nation to promote the work of our organization, while joining in fellowship among each other. This year National FFA week is Feb. 21-28.
In Indiana our 192 chapters celebrate in many different ways. The Clinton Prairie FFA chapter, rural Frankfort, hosts an Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast; South Adams FFA hosts a mat ball tournament to raise money for charity; and the Hope and Columbus FFA chapters compete in an annual basketball game which encouraged camaraderie among members. Other events include school convocations, leadership trainings, ski trips and lock ins.
To launch the statewide spirit of FFA Week the Indiana FFA Executive Committee will volunteer at an Indianapolis food bank. The committee believes that through this service project we could inspire others to get active in their communities.
Members from across Indiana will travel to the capitol building to serve as pages advocating for agriculture. What better way for our youth to kick off FFA Week than sharing their message with their very own legislators!
Page Day will provide a unique opportunity to stand on the House and Senate floors and individually receive joint resolutions for our year of service.
We as officers will travel the state during FFA Week, each choosing an area that covers about 29 chapters.
Each day we will visit three to five schools, meeting with members and promoting the great works of agriculture.
National FFA week is an event our team has looked forward to all year. We're excited it's almost here.
Thanks in advance Indiana FFA for allowing our team to join you during this week and thank you for carrying on the message of agriculture in your communities.
