Huron Group Plants Conventional vs Organic Test Plot

Huron Group Plants Conventional vs Organic Test Plot
Tours will be offered during the South Dakota State University.

South Dakota State Fairgoers will get to compare organic and conventional corn production.

After hearing a number of people in their community ask why everyone doesn't farm organically, the Huron Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee partnered with South Dakota Wheat Growers, DeKalb Seed and Dakota Land Feeds to plant a corn technology test plot on the edge of town.

The 3-acre test plot features conventionally managed and organically managed corn.

The purpose of the test plot is to show the difference in the amount of corn produced from the two systems, says Jarvis Haugeberg, of Dakota Land Feeds.

The group plans to offer test plot tours during the South Dakota State Fair.
