Heavy Overnight Rains Delay Show Open

Heavy Overnight Rains Delay Show Open
Farm Progress Show exhibit field to open at 10 a.m.

The line of thunderstorms that moved into the Boone, Iowa area Tuesday night, Aug. 31, brought plenty of rain and lightning, but the showers moved out in the early morning hours. After a thorough review of the site, the show staff has determined that the exhibit field is ready to roll for Day 2 of the big event - with a two hour delay..

"There will be no field demonstrations today, but exhibitors will have the site ready for a 10 a.m. opening," says Matt Jungmann, national events manager, Farm Progress.

Jungmann explains that the storm rumbled through the site with high winds and rain, but the permanent biennial site did its job of channeling water off the exhibit field through the drainage system. "The key for us is safe traffic movement and getting visitors into Tent City," Jungmann says.

The visitor and exhibitor traffic routes to the show grounds do not change today, but once on the grounds visitors will be directed to appropriate areas. Following parking staff directions to the letter will be important for easier arrival to the site. "We've worked out key details with the parking staff this morning, and they're ready to make sure people get where they need to be," Jungmann says.

Show hours for Wednesday are10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To keep up on what's happening at the show keep checking
