Although cool weather is in place in the Central and Southern Plains, meteorologists are calling for warmer temperatures next week, which is expected to pull most hard red winter wheat out of dormancy.

Southwest Nebraska through western Texas could see record highs, as temperatures are expected to reach the 70s in western Colorado by Friday.

A strong likelihood of rain across the hard red wheat belt over the next six to 10 days also should reap short-term benefits for the crop. The eastern half of the region is expected to have the best chances of significant rain totals, according to T-Storm Weather.
