GSI unveiled a completely redesigned grain bin design to its dealers this morning in Naples, Fla., during the company's annual dealer meeting.
The GSI 40-Series grain bin features a new roof design based on Z-shaped purlins (Z-Tek Roof) which transfer load more efficiently than the usual C-Channel material used in traditional bin roofs. The redesign allows GSI bins to move further "north" in the grain belt because it can handle 40 pounds per square foot of snow loads, and up to 50 pounds with optional design features.
he 40-Series is designed for large farms and commercial grain-handling operations and offers storage capacity from 7,000 to 1.2 million bushels.
The new GSI 40-Series grain bin from GSI is the first new product from the company reflecting the collaboration with GSI and its new owner, AGCO. GSI became the 5th AGCO global brand last week.
Construction of the new bins is aided by precision engineering to take the guesswork out of parts placement, and the standardization of fasteners across the structure. Stiffeners (powder-coated galvanized material) are stouter to take advantage of the new roof design, and 2-gauge material for the rings allows for taller structures for more capacity.
Scott Becker, GSI's storage product manager, says once inside grain is better protected in the new bin design by overlapping roof sheets, rust-resistant JS5000 bolts and a rolled structural base designed to prevent water from entering the base of the bin.
