Groups to Host COOL Workshops

Sessions will help retailers and suppliers comply with law.

New country-of-origin labeling laws will go into effect on Sept. 30. To help retailers and suppliers understand how to comply the American Meat Institute, Food Marketing Institute and United Fresh Produce Association will present a series of workshops next month. USDA experts who have written the regulations will address attendees and answer questions. Participants will also have the opportunity to talk with industry legal and business experts about compliance and supply chain efficiency.

The American Meat Institute notes the workshops provide a unique opportunity for retailers and their meat and produce suppliers to sit side-by-side and learn about the new laws and how to implement them together. The workshops are scheduled for August 12-14 in Baltimore, Chicago and San Jose.
