Good Conditions Aiding Planting in Argentina

Favorable weather has corn planting ahead of schedule in Argentina.

Argentine farmers are taking advantage of high soil moisture and sunny weather to get a jump on their corn planting. The Agriculture Secretariat's weekly crop report Friday showed 10 percent of the corn had been planted, two percent ahead of last year's pace.

Dry conditions earlier in the season, followed by excessive moisture slowed sunseed planting. According to the report, sunseed planting is two percent last years pace with 13 percent of the crop in the ground.

Recent rainfall contributed to a substantial improvement of Argentine wheat crop conditions this week, providing a boost to the developing crop according to the report.
