FSA, NRCS Release Public Meeting Schedule

Eleven counties affected by closure of USDA offices.

Public meetings will be scheduled in the 11 counties where the Kansas Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service are planning to close offices.

The proposed restructuring plan, announced last week by both agencies, would close local offices in the 11 counties listed below, consolidating them with offices in adjacent counties. The plan can be revised if new information or considerations are heard at these meetings.

Kansas Farm Service Agency state director Bill Fuller will meet with FSA employees and FSA County Committees in affected counties prior to the meetings, while NRCS state conservationist Harold Klaege will meet with NRCS staff.

Kansas FSA is leading the process, but since FSA and NRCS offices are co-located in the same building, NRCS will follow the FSA plan, Klaege says.

At each of the public meetings, Fuller will review why the office was chosen for consolidation, how the consolidation will happen and options for the farmers and ranchers in the county. Fuller will also hear comments from the public on the proposed consolidations.

Meetings will begin at 2 p.m. each day. The meeting schedule is:
